Where It Works

Raast is the State Bank of Pakistan's instant payment system, and banks and wallets across Pakistan connect to it. Raast QR produces the standard person-to-person QR format, which means it is meant to work anywhere a "Raast" or "Scan QR to pay" option appears.

App support changes over time and is outside this package's control. If an app has a Raast or scan-to-pay option, generate a code and scan it yourself to confirm.

Always Verify Before Paying

The P2P payload carries an account number, an amount and an optional expiry. It carries no account name. The title a payer sees comes from their own banking app, resolved from the IBAN.

That is a good thing for security, but it means the check has to happen at the payer's end. Whatever screen you put a QR on, tell people to confirm the account title in their banking app before they confirm the transfer.

What This Format Cannot Do

A P2P Raast QR sends funds straight to an IBAN. It carries:

  • ❌ No merchant settlement reporting
  • ❌ No refund mechanism
  • ❌ No dispute resolution
  • ❌ No confirmation back to your application

Reconcile against your bank statement exactly as you would with a manual transfer. If your business needs settlement, refunds or disputes, use Raast P2M through an SBP-licensed acquirer instead.
